Some days ago I have heard about a girl called Nune. They told she was keeping 180 dogs in a dog nursery on her own expenses. I was amazed and wanted to see it with my own eyes. And we went there with a group of animal protection activists to do some volunteer work, to help Nune.

In Armenia street dogs are being shot. Street dogs have bad fortune to be hated by people. Nobody cares about them. I used to think nobody, but to my great surprise there was Nune, who used to take street dogs, keep them in her dog nursery and take care of them.

When we went there, the view wasn't so pleasant from the first sign. The place was so abandoned and destructed. Many dogs were free of cages and began barking on us. When Nune came, all they got silent and we could pass. She showed us all the place and dogs. There were so many poor dogs abandoned by past owners because of becoming blind or limp. They all were so sweet and frightened from people. Many of them were to be shot, but Nune saved them and brought to her nursery. There was a little puppy sick, and exactly that moment doctor was giving her needed medicine.

Nune is a pianist and she keeps all these animals on her own expenses. She is feeding them 2 times a day, calls doctor for every single sick dog. She is not able to manage more. The most important is that she is fond of her dogs and dogs are fond of her. We go there once or twice a week to do volunteer work, to clean the place, to feed dogs, to clean their cages etc.

That wonderful creatures worth to live in better conditions and to have better life. It is said «Dog is the best friend of man», but people often forget about it. People often forget about animals at all, forget, that animals have equal rights with us to live and to have good life, to be loved. They are ready to give so much love; you just need to give back so little instead, that's not difficult.

Your help will help us to make them feel happier, make their living place better, and their cages more comfortable and to keep more dogs from being shot.
